“Going In to Go Out” takes us on a journey…
The topmost layers of this art piece depict well worn cavern walls that beckon us forward. The poetic words by acclaimed Jewish poet, Ruth F. Brin, welcome us in. They read, “If I could lie quietly watching the stars through the branches, If I could listen to the night wind shepherding the clouds, Then might my soul be open to you?”
As we delve further, we pass through layers of lush color, and texture that progressively become calmer, gossamer-like, and still. Then, through the narrow channel, we emerge into the open expansiveness of the spiritual world and the universe.
What must we do to get there? To access this sacred space? Dedicated, fervent prayer and meditation are the roads within.
For Jews, the journey leads to connection with Hashem, our Gd and the Creator of ALL. For others, it is the path to “becoming one with the cosmos”. Whatever the case, when we quiet our minds, and disconnect from the distraction of the material world, we allow ourselves to access deeper levels that enrich our spirit and lives.
